Congratulations to Rob Williams who finished first in the Male Veteran 50 category at the Maldwyn Harriers Road Race Series. The main prize had previously eluded Rob who in previous years had finished 2nd and 3rd in the age category. But this year Rob completed four out of the five races and amassed a colossal 351 points to take home the title. Well done! |

There was a good turnout from the Brecon AC contingent at the Lions 10 road race. We were blessed with near perfect running conditions which are not the norm at the Brecon 10. Our First man home was Martin Shaw finishing in a time 57.19 coming 2nd out of a field of 267 runners. Breathing down his neck was the flying farmer Austin Davies stopping the clock in a time of 57.28 winning him 3rd place and also winner of the VM45 age group. Next up was Crispin Flower stopping the clock at 1.01.00 securing 14th place and ensuring Brecon were the winners of the team prize. Hot on his heels was Phil Kendrick finishing in a time of 1.01.30 and 16th position. David Davies (1.03.08) was next coming home in 21st position and winner of the VM50 prize. Evergreen Colin Davies finished next in a time of 1.09.23 bagging him 53rd place. Close behind was Paul Evans (1.10.38) setting a new PB and finishing 66th. Simon Dye (1.16.16) showed the benefit of Monday night track sessions by knocking a full six minutes off last years time (112th) and looks in good shape for next month's Berlin Marathon. Gill Aldworth was our first lady finisher stopping the clock in a time of 1.16.56 netting her 122 place. Tim Sheppard certainly didn't need any herding running 10 miles for the very first time coming home in 1.21.40 gaining him 155th place. Brecon 10 veteran Mick Olivant (1.22.42) was next winning him 162nd position. Close behind was Vanessa Williams (1.23.16) in 169th. Carole Jones fresh from her marathon exploits finished in a time of 1.24.52 winning her 183rd place. Charles Orr-Ewing (1.26.21) held off a late challenge to secure 191st. Catherine Olivant (1.27.04) looked in good form for the Cardiff Half Marathon coming home in 197th. Tara Fildes-Jackson (229th) combated sleep depravation and a holiday bug to stop the clock in a time of 1.36.24. Another Brecon 10 virgin Claire Powell (1.43.57) finished 247th and looks in good shape for her half marathon debut at Lake Vyrnwy next month. |
